Based out of the firm’s office in Dallas, Texas, Wernick will manage the regional platform, arranging loans through banks, life insurance companies, CMBS conduits and agency lenders.

“One of the unique things that I bring to the table is the ability to enhance the Texas regional platform,” Wernick told Real Estate Capital. “We’re going to be reconnecting with my relationships with life companies, finance companies and banks, and building on those connections to help grow this platform.”

Throughout his mortgage banking career, Wernick has originated over $10 billion in commercial real estate financing for a wide array of asset classes across the US.

Previously, Wernick was a senior managing director at Berkadia Commercial Mortgage, where he managed the Dallas production office and led the loan origination team.

Wernick added that prior to Berkadia he worked as a financial correspondent for Walker & Dunlop for years while president of Quantum First Capital, a real estate finance and advisory firm.

“Stuart is a long-time friend and partner to Walker & Dunlop,” said Howard Smith, the company’s president, in prepared remarks. “We’re honored to welcome him to the team and to add his decades of industry experience to our growing Capital Markets group.”
