Strategic Value Partners has appointed Ian Guthrie, the managing director of Lloyds’ Real Estate business support unit, to SVP Global’s advisory council.
The investment firm, which specialises in distressed debt, said Guthrie would join the company’s three other advisory council members in Europe; Sir David Cooksey, Professor Dr. Bernd Farholz and José Barreiro.
Guthrie brings 25 years’ banking experience to the role, having previously held executive positions at Lloyds and HBOS. He leaves his role as managing director of Lloyds’ Real Estate Business Support Unit, where he was responsible for managing part of the firm’s Europe non-core real estate portfolio.
Victor Khosla, founder and chief investment officer of SVP Global, said: “As the UK banking sector continues to evolve and divest assets, Ian’s experience and the relationships he has developed during his career will be highly additive to our already strong origination capabilities.”
Kholsa founded SVP Global in 2001 and it has about $5 billion in assets under management.
