REC Europe Awards 2023: Do not miss your chance to make a submission

You have until 17 November to tell us why your organisation, deal, or you, should be considered for one of our 34 shortlists.

If you, your organisation or your deal should be considered for inclusion in the shortlists of the Real Estate Capital Europe Awards 2023, now is the time to tell us why. The deadline for submissions is midday UK time, on Friday 17 November. Click HERE to access our dedicated submissions form.

This year has proven to be arguably the most challenging for Europe’s real estate financing market since the global financial crisis. Higher debt costs have led to a severe slowdown in real estate investment activity, meaning lenders have fewer new deals to write loans against. Refinancing has also become a challenge as higher rates have put pressure on interest coverage ratios.

However, business has continued to get done. Many lenders have continued to provide financing. Borrowers have adapted to get their finances in order. Advisers have enabled sponsors to address their financing needs. Loan servicers have helped clients manage stress in their portfolios.

Our annual awards will recognise the best of this activity.

The 2023 awards will have 34 categories. New categories have been introduced, including Innovation of the Year: Europe, which recognises those that have adapted and thrived in the current market. We have also introduced two people-focused awards. The shortlist for Real Estate Finance Industry Figure of the Year: Europe will recognise individuals that have most moved the needle in 2023. Real Estate Finance Rising Star of the Year: Europe, meanwhile, will showcase those that are emerging in the industry and making their presence felt.

Alongside the new awards, key categories will be back, highlighting banks, alternative lenders, borrowers, advisers, servicers, lawyers and financing deals that have stood out in 2023.

For our editorial team to compile shortlists, we need to hear about your 2023 achievements. You can make a submission in as many categories as you want, although you will need to make a separate submission for each category.

Voting will open in December and the winners will be announced in print and online in March 2024.

A couple of tips for submissions. First, keep them brief. We cannot sift through reams of material, so stick to the headline facts, with enough detail to make us pay attention. Second, avoid marketing jargon. We want to hear your actual achievements, rather than superlatives about why your company is the best. Overall, your submissions need to convince us your organisation, deal or you – or your colleague – should be in the running for one of our prestigious awards.
