US law firm Paul Hastings has hired restructuring and real estate lawyer David Ereira from rival Linklaters.
Ereira, considered a big-hitter in City legal circles, focuses primarily on debt restructuring but also covers real estate finance, including advising on stressed and distressed real estate resolutions. He will join Paul Hastings’ London team as a partner in its corporate practice.
High-profile restructuring work handled by Ereira has included acting for PwC as the administrator of Lehman Brothers International Europe, as well as for the creditors of Woolworths. Ereira also acted for the creditors and eventual owners of Le Meridien Hotels.
In commercial property, Ereira has acted on behalf of investors of UK and European real estate portfolios and has worked on UK real estate outsourcing transactions, as well as structured financings of real estate income streams.
Other work has included private equity transactions, acting for sponsors and lenders on financings for public to private transactions.
Ereira joined Linklaters in 2007, after spending 17 years at Freshfields. Prior to that, he spent almost ten years at Wilde Sapte during the 1980s.
“The development of a tier one finance and restructuring practice is a central component of our strategy in London,” said Ronan O’Sullivan, Chair of Paul Hastings’ London office.
