M7 Real Estate, the pan-European property investor and asset manager, has appointed David Simmonds as its chief financial officer.
Simmonds has joined M7 from APN Property Group where he was Melbourne-based finance director for the Australian Securities Exchange-listed Industria REIT since its IPO in 2013.
Prior to working in Australia, Simmonds’ roles included CFO for Europe at APN’s office in London from 2010 to 2013. He was finance director for the Goodman Group from 2007 to 2010, where he had responsibility for the European business parks division.
Simmonds will be based in M7’s London headquarters.
Prior to Simmonds’ appointment, Andrew Jenkins was M7’s CFO as well as its chief operating officer (COO), a joint role he had held since 2009. However, due to the company’s recent growth, it was decided that the two roles should be separated. Jenkins will continue as COO.
“David joins us at a tremendously exciting period in M7‘s growth. His extensive experience across both listed vehicles and private equity businesses, as well as companies in growth mode, means that he is well positioned to help M7 into the next phase of its expansion. We very much look forward to working with him,” said Richard Croft, chief executive officer of M7.
M7, which invests in multi-let real estate across the UK and continental Europe, has experienced significant recent growth. During 2015, M7 increased its assets under management by 60 percent to around €1.7 billion.
“This is a great opportunity to join a company that is at a pivotal stage in its development, and I look forward to working with the team to continue building on M7‘s success to date,” said Simmonds.
