ING Commercial Banking has appointed a new head of real estate finance for Asia Pacific.
Robert Scholten has moved to the position having been at the bank for 25-years. The role will see Scholten take responsibility for expanding the bank’s real estate finance business across the region as well as helping Asian clients invest in the European market.
The bank said: “In the past few years, such outbound investment into Europe has witnessed a significant growth in volume, a trend likely to continue in the foreseeable future. Robert will take advantage of this opportunity to leverage ING’s extensive network and real estate finance presence in Europe”.
Based in Singapore Scholten replaces Aart Jan den Hartog, who has become head of commercial banking, greater China and Mongolia.
He will report to Jan-Evert Post, member of the global management team for real estate finance, and to Basheer Buhari, head of lending services Asia. Scholten was previously head of commercial banking greater China and Mongolia as well as country head, ING Commercial Banking Indonesia and head of loan syndications Asia Pacific.
