Global broker CBRE has hired PwC’s former real estate corporate finance executive, Philip Shields (pictured), as senior director within its Capital Advisors team.
Shields will be in charge of the origination and execution of corporate finance assignments and debt mandates for clients in the specialist markets sector comprising healthcare, leisure and pubs.
In the past two years, Shields has been at PwC in London where he helped lead the real estate M&A team. Prior to PwC, Shields worked for around 20 years in investment banking in Australia, the US and London, which included senior roles at Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank.
Shields’s appointment strengthens CBRE’s service offering for an increasing number of clients seeking corporate finance expertise on origination and execution of complex corporate acquisitions and divestments, equity raisings and debt and structured finance advisory, the global broker said.
The appointment follows the recent hiring of Paul Coates as executive director and head of debt and structured Finance for the EMEA region of its Capital Advisors unit. Coates joined CBRE from Royal Bank of Scotland where he had been managing director and head of real estate finance since 2008.
