Bill Maxted’s replacement as author of the De Montfort University UK property lending report is Dr Nicole Lux, a former banker at Deutsche Bank.
Lux has begun meeting banks and and other lenders with Maxted to get an overview of the market. She will work alongside the influential report’s founder until July when he is retiring, and will help to produce the latest report for the year-end 2015.

Lux is a former vice-president of Deutsche Bank in real estate debt restructuring and has worked on transactions with large bank syndicates across Europe. She also has a PhD, is the main author of Assessing Real Estate Risk – Models, Concepts, Methods, and lectures at Cass Business School in London.
She said: “The property lending report is well-respected throughout the industry and used as an indicator of the appetite for lending and development. It is exciting to be working with Bill Maxted and we have big plans to develop the scope and accessibility of the report.”
Among the changes planned is a digital version.
Professor Cillian Ryan, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law at De Montfort University, said: “The appointment of Nicole, along with a revamp of the report, will ensure that The UK Commercial Property Lending Report remains current and responsive to the needs of the sector when Bill retires later this year.”
Dr Lux will be supported by further university research staff and will work closely with external advisers to enhance the survey.
Ion Fletcher, director of policy (finance) at the British Property Federation, said: “We are very grateful to all of the hard work that Bill and consultant Trudi Porter have put into this valuable project over the last two decades and they will be missed. We look forward to working with Dr Lux and seeing how the research will develop over the coming years, and stand ready to offer our continuing support”.
