King and CBRE GI colleagues jump ship for Westmount

CBRE Global Investors is searching for a head of investor services to join its European board after the resignation of Giles King and two colleagues.

EMEA head of investor services King, Simon Farnsworth and Ian Harris are joining former Redevco managing director Simon Smith as the four founders of a new asset management and investment company called Westmount.

“After 17 years here in different guises I wanted to go back to the real estate coal face,” King said. “The time feels right, as the property market is strengthening at long last.” “Westmount will act as an operating partner for private equity houses, other investors and banks, and ultimately willco-invest with clients,” he added.

Farnsworth’s and Harris’s main role is on CBRE GI’s Strategic Partners UK value-added funds. Fund 2 is almost closed, selling its last asset; fund 3 is winding down, with no plans for a fourth. Eric Linden and Rob Trevor will take on their departing CBRE GI colleagues’ roles.
