Apollo puts Orf on Atrium board
Roger Orf, European head of real estate at Apollo Global Management, has joined the board of quoted retail property company Atrium European Real Estate as a non-executive director. Orf will be one of Apollo’s appointed directors. Apollo took over Citi Property Investors, which invested in Atrium in 2008 when it restructured and changed its name from Meinl Land.
CBRE’s Giostra joins Gatehouse
Shariah-compliant Gatehouse Bank has appointed Natale Giostra as head of real estate financing. Since January 2010, Giostra has headed CBRE’s UK and European debt advisory business, where he had worked for nine years. Gatehouse has £1bn of real estate assets that it buys and manages for clients. It is also a balance-sheet lender, offering up to 85% loan-to-value levels for deal sizes from £5m up to a maximum £100m.
Paul Hastings recruits Ryland
David Ryland has quit SJ Berwin to go to Paul Hastings as a partner in the London office. Ryland was the highest-ranked real estate partner in the Chambers 100 2013 publication, which ranks 100 business lawyers. His clients include Starwood Capital, Evans Randall, Invesco and Schroders.
Chua to cover Asia sales for IPD
Lesley Chua has joined IPD as a director in Asia, in charge of sales coverage. He was previously head of research and strategy at Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management and has also worked at Pacific Star Holdings and Standard Chartered Bank. IPD’s managing director, Laurent Ternisien, said IPD “is eager to expand in new markets throughout Asia”.
