Niche US property placement agent Hodes Weill is expanding into Europe and will open a London office this month.
The office will be run by Dominic Field, who left Grosvenor Fund Management late last year, and Eric Lemer.
The expansion reunites Field and Lemer with David Hodes, Doug Weill and Susan Swanezy, who worked together at Credit Suisse’s real estate private funds group. Field and Lemer will focus on capital raising in the UK and Europe.
Doug Weill said the firm was “committed to expanding our global coverage of the institutional market” and had also hired Hong Kong-based ex-LXL Capital Partners managing director Alfredo Lobo to cover Asia.
Hodes Weill also offers M&A and consulting services and is carrying out a strategic review for a $1.5bn UK and European opportunistic fund manager.
Hodes and Weill co-founded Credit Suisse REPFG in 2000 and left to start their own firm in 2009. Co-founder of Credit Suisse REPFG, Bill Thompson, left in 2010 to join Greenhill, followed by Fredrik Elwing and over a dozen other colleagues.
