UBS Asset Management has reached a final close of £241 million on its debut UK real estate debt fund.

Brookland Partners has launched a mezzanine and whole loan lending platform with support from shareholder, Omni Partners. The investment bank has established a new mezzanine and whole loan debt unit, European Real Estate Capital (E-REC), and has executed its first deal with seed capital from Omni, which owns a 40% stake in Brookland.

New York-based real estate firm Madison Realty Capital has provided first and second mortgage financing totalling about $124m for the acquisition and future renovation of a 15-building, 175,000 square foot portfolio of residential and mixed-use properties in the East Village, according to Real Estate Capital's sister publication Private Debt Investor.

Italian investment bank Mediobanca is seeking to expand its asset management capabilities with the acquisition of 51% of Cairn Capital, in a deal that sees the exit of Royal Bank of Scotland, reports Real Estate Capital’s sister publication, Private Debt Investor. The deal to take the 51% stake in credit asset manager and adviser, Cairn Capital, is expected to complete by the end of the year. The parties did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement.

AXA Real Estate Investment Managers has reached a final close of €2.9bn on its latest pan-European debt fund, Commercial Real Estate Senior 9 (CRE9), breaking through its €2.5bn target.
